Although Angelo’s career was laced with persistent injuries and several standoffs with the Sri Lankan board, it did not prevent him from achieving his full potential, as evidenced by his achievements!
Angelos's illustrious career is punctuated by numerous highlights, demonstrating his talent and resilience in the cricketing field. He played a pivotal role in Sri Lanka's triumph at the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 and contributed significantly to the team's success in reaching the finals of prestigious tournaments such as the 2011 Cricket World Cup and the ICC World Twenty20 in 2009 and 2012.
In July 2022, Mathews achieved a significant milestone by playing his 100th Test match for Sri Lanka. His tenure as captain saw notable victories, including leading the national team to victory in the 2014 Asia Cup.
